Three months more in Malawi =D
Some things have happened since last time I wrote here... I have climbed the peak of Mulanje Mountain, which is 3002 meters at its highest point, Sapitwa. It was really nice and I also found some ice at the top :)
As well, the original plan was to go home 6 August, but that has been changed. I have decided to stay in Malawi three more months, which means that my flight will be going home 4th of November instead of 6th of August.
The project I'm going to stay at is called H.E.L.P. Malawi and is a primary school located in Liwonde, about 2 km from Shire river. On the other side of the river you find Liwonde National Park, with hippos, elephants, rhinos, buffalos and many more animals.
The project coordinator is David Wise, a 25 years old guy from USA. He is a really nice guy and I will work a lot with him.
The project will supply me with food, accomodation, a small allowance and health insurance, which means that I have everything that I need from them.
I will live at the primary school in a volunteer house, so far I'm the only one. Some of the teachers also live at the school.
So far they have water, but not electricity there, but it will come in a couple of months.
My job will be to teach at the school and also to educate the other teachers in mathematics, but the job is quite flexible so I'm sure that I will do all sorts of different things there. I know there is a band at the school, so probably I will play some music with them and so on.
The planned time for me is to be there for three months, but if I want to I can extend that period. I don't know yet if I will stay longer, but I will see when the time for going home gets closer.
This organisation is looking for more volunteers, so if you are interested please contact me!
Also I would like to make an open invitation for anyone who would like to visit me. There is very nice accomodation at Mvuu Camp, $20 per night and it's possible to cook your own food there as well, which can be bought cheaply in the town. You can go for safari there and I live just across the river, so you can visit me at my project as well. I can also take you to Mulanje Mountain during the weekend if you feel like climbing, or visit Lake Malawi.
So, I maybe won't write here so much since there's no electricity at the new project (I will go there 8th of August), but sometimes I will!
By the way, my new adress is:
